  1. That’s where they should drill baby drill.. where the OIL is!!!

  2. BP spokesperson – “We are delighted with this find and people can be 100% reassured that we are not greedy climate change denial scum, willing to destroy the planet for profit. All is good, nothing to see here.”

  3. I’m sure that wealth will be shared amongst all Brazilians.

  4. More planet-heating gases to drive us even further and faster towards a second Dark Ages. Yet somehow bizarrely celebrated by economists, and our useless “leaders” who are TOTALLY driven by short-termist greed.

  5. Hmmmm… I wonder if Brazil will still be facing 90% tariffs.

  6. Crazy that we have ai… that’s powered by oil and gas. We have innovated tech but not our power. This will be the downfall of the climate

  7. “My fellow Americans, we’ve received verified reports from our trusted partners in the Gulf of America. Fantastic people, by the way, very smart in fact, our Gulf partners. But they’ve confirmed what we most feared—that Brazil, a beautiful country, wonderful people, just incredible, is now suffering under terrible, terrible tyranny. Just terrible. And corruption. The same corruption I’ve faced, by the weak and pathetic leadership of the previous administration—a total disaster. And Obama.”

“Now, we have a moral obligation—a big, beautiful obligation—to help the Brazilian people, who love freedom, who love democracy, and who would *really* love the sweet, beautiful sound of American-made drilling equipment. The best equipment, by the way. Nobody makes it like we do.”

“But we won’t sit back—and I never sit back, believe me—while this tragedy happens, especially not when there are such *tremendous* geological formations, just sitting there, folks. Formations like you wouldn’t believe. And such beautiful people. Brazilians love me. And our brave troops—heroes, absolute heroes—who are once again ready to deliver humanitarian aid, and to stabilize the region—which we’ve learned is *very* unstable right now—you know, immigrants. But our troops will make sure those *incredible* natural resources are managed *responsibly*—preferably by some great, great companies, maybe based in Houston? Just a thought.”

“And let me be very clear—*very clear*—we’re not invading for oil. No, no. We’re liberating for liberty. The oil? Well, it’s just a happy coincidence. A very, very happy coincidence. But if, in securing freedom, we also help bring stability and prosperity to the region—well, that’s just common sense. God bless America, and may freedom prevail. Thank you, God bless you, and God bless America.”

(Jesus I should’ve stuck with Bush Jr.’s voice, which is how I first imagined this message; *trying* to sound like Trump gave me a stroke.”)

  8. Dancing dancing into the void. Overshoot is insidious.

  9. Another record-breaking oil discovery in the middle of a climate emergency. It’s hard to reconcile announcements like this with the urgent need to phase out fossil fuels. We need investment in bold climate solutions not deeper commitments to the status quo.

  10. More rope to hang ourselves and the rest of the living world!

  11. The fundamental problem with addressing climate change is that addressing means stranding trillions of dollars in oil and gas assets.
