True size and latitude of Belgium vs North America

  1. Can anyone explain what weather phenomenon causes our mild weather if we are in canada according to this picture? I would think we, and basicly all of western Europe would be in snow and cold weather alot more.

  2. Regarding the climate change situation it does seem that Europe has a bit of the advantage as most modelling predicts the worst weather events around the equatorial zones and on the poles. I think we are already seeing this in southern US where extreme weather events such as floods, droughts and hurricanes are just piling up year after year?

Anyway, funky to see? I admit that I thought we were more along the lines of Toronto in ‘southerness’ :’)

  3. Kinda crazy, and If we were in the southern latitude we’d be far below south africa, somewhere on the southern tip of the south American continent

  4. I lived in southern Ontario for one year but I only realise now that Belgium would fit easily between Toronto and Ottawa. Awesome.

  5. I grew up in Belgium and have lived in Canada for the last 9 years. I live more south now yet winters are absolutely brutal. Summers are nicer than Belgium though. Also it’s hard for Canadians to comprehend how small Belgium is. I showed this to my girlfriend and her mind was blown.
