I’ve met Sarah, Duchess of York once (waitressing at an event) and I met Princess Diana as a child (presented her with a bouquet of flowers).
Lemme start it –
My dad has met William and Kate during one of their tours abroad. According to him, they and their entourage were really sweet and genuine in their interaction with him and his colleagues.
Yes, the late Queen (Hereford cathedral), the late princess of wales (ditto), the current king (ditto) and their royal highnesses the duke and duchess of Gloucester (also ditto). Plus princess Michael of kent in church a couple of times, being a fellow catholic
I met Harry when he visited an event at my workplace. He was lovely and looked like he really wanted to be there (it was a charity he’d been involved with for several years – he gave the organiser a big hug).
Met Prince Charles at the Massachusetts State House in the 80’s. Shorter than I thought he’d be. Much more handsome than pics. We were told not to put put our hands to shake his unless he did it first. Yeah. That went out the window pretty fast. He was good about it all considering we were junior staff and basically swarmed him. No line didn’t care.
I saw Prince Charles’ helicopter land in the gardens at Kensington Palace and watched him walk into the building. Does that count?
When I was 17 I got to give a short speech in front of Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands when he was still the Prince of Orange. We also ate poffertjes (mini pancakes), so it was a really fun experience.
My high school concert band played the welcome ceremony for Queen Sonja when she visited my hometown.
Once I visited Copenhagen and there was a crowd waiting in front of the castle. So did I. Turned out Queen Margrethe II. was welcoming President Macron. That was so random. The Danish did the whole program with Royal Guards on horses, sniper on boats and helicopters. I was impressed.
I briefly dated a guy who went to school with William and Harry. He played rugby with Harry. He had nothing bad to say about either of them. Both were friendly.
My old flatmate spoke to the Queen for a minute about model airplanes when she visited his school in Wales.
I have met His Majesty King Harald V of Norway twice. Once in the late 90’s and the in 2014 when I got this photo of him while working as a military photographer. I know multiple people who have met and worked with a lot of the royal family here, it’s a rather small country after all.

Not royalty. I met Charles, Diana’s brother at Althorp.
My Cousin is a high level Swedish executive. She and her Husband were invited to a shindig in Stockholm and met the King and Queen.
If you live in Windsor you get to see quite a few royals throughout the year. Mostly it is in passing, on the more rare occasion you’ll get a hello if you are in the Great Park and are out walking.
Joined in with Princess Anne in disparaging her first husband’s riding skills a short time after he won an Olympic medal. I was so busy laughing at his poor performance (fortunately in the warm up ring) that I hadn’t realised the woman shouting abuse at him was his wife until she turned to me to ask me to agree with her. Indeed I did. She was lovely.
My sister in law met the queen of Belgium at an event. She had nothing but very positive things to say. While this doesn’t really matter- she did comment on how the queen’s skin basically glowed & really wanted to know her skin care routine 😂 but besides superficially, my SIL was pleasantly surprised with how smart the queen was & was very well versed on whatever event it was. My SIL has no idea about any royal so i was expecting a negative response from her (esp since she is a bit anti monarchy) . But she had such a positive experience with queen mathilde & now sings its praises
Diana, Princess of Wales at Great Ormond Street Hospital, where I was working at the time.
I always boringly repeat the same story, but I met Queen Sonja and King Harald (I didn’t talk to him) on their visit to Estonia in 1998. I was chosen to give the queen flowers and she unexpectedly stopped to talk to me. She was incredibly sweet, she asked about my experience with the Baltic Way and asked how we knew where in the chain to be during the Baltic Way. She talked about Estonia in a very informed way and said she admired my country. She noticed changes I’d made to my wheelchair and complimented it. That surprised me a lot. I told her that I was about to go to university and wanted to become a mechanical engineer and she was very encouraging. She told me that she envied me my “beautiful” hair. I’m a remarkably ugly man with visible disabilities and I have a lot of very curly hair, my looks had always been mocked. It’s silly, but to be complimented by the most gorgeous queen meant a lot to me. My English wasn’t great, but she was very patient and lovely.
A friend met Prince Charles. She said he is much more handsome in person and has beautiful manners.
I have a friend with a government job in a Commonwealth country, and he’s met several members of the BRF (and had extensive interactions with their staff). I don’t know how much of his opinions are of the royals themselves vs. of their employees, but his takes are:
* Anne: super easy to work with, consummate professional, asks to be scheduled for 8-10 hour days
* Edward and Sophie: annoying (no further details provided)
* Meghan and Harry: cranky, but somewhat justifiably b/c their staff was really disorganized and unprepared (the example he gave was not bringing extra clothes/shoes for inclement weather, so Meghan had to wear borrowed shoes/coats/etc.)
Take all that with a grain of salt. I’m getting it second-hand from my friend, who got some of it second-hand from other people he worked with.
My ex boyfriend worked with Charles, said he was slightly racist, would ask people where they were from if they had a tan (he was tanned from being abroad) then Charles said he looked like he was from Bradford (large population of I dno, don’t know PC term but none white people basically).
He was very jokey and also said he dressed in very worn tatty clothing for his normal day to day.
Not exactly boiling hot tea I know.
Anon please for this is soooo funny 😂😂
Met? Not really, but I did see Diana in London about two years before she died. Striking doesn’t even cover it. She was also 10 feet tall if she was an inch.
Didn’t meet. Just saw William present the FA Cup trophy at Wembly in 2017 when Arsenal won.
A friend met Charles in the US, he was visiting and was brought to some sort of scientific exhibit, and she was there as an expert in the subject. She was introduced as an expert, and said “Let me know if you have any question”.
He just gave her the look that anyone will give if they’re dragged to an exhibit they aren’t interested in, and they both started laughing.
Yes, due to work, sat at a table with the Queen, the list of rules – and regulations was so ridiculous that I tried to get out of it, dont speak to her, dont look at her, dont eat before she does, stop eating when she does – an A4 sheet of ridiculousness. Most people at table arselicked like mad I was horrified that she spoke to me, probably because everyone else was so sickly smarmy, she asked me something, I answered that she couldn’t possibly presume or assume anything with the circus going on around her visit. She looked at me with a very straight face, looked down, continued with her soup and ignored the table for the next 20 minutes. Awful. She unveiled a plaque, came in, kept her back to everyone standing around ( no seats allowed), lots of older people so quite rude. Acknowledged nobody, opened the curtain and walked straight out, no charm whatsoever, lots of older people not allowed to sit down, many had been in the room waiting 60 mins+ Met Philip on another occasion ruder that rude, spoke aggressively and bad tempered, obviously bored rigid. Made a comment about my accent, I mentioned kettle and black. He actually laughed but referred to the poor chap demonstrating to him that he looked like a 1940s serial killer due to his haircut, poor guy completely froze.
