During the Mower County Board of Commissioners work session Tuesday, members received an update regarding its master plan and space study.
The update, provided by Danielle Reid of Klein McCarthy Architects, gave a broad overview of immediate, intermediate and long-term needs of the county in terms of its facilities. This included facility conditions of the Government Center, Justice Center and Public Works as well as space needs of departments within those spaces.
During Tuesday’s meeting, the board was taken through each of the buildings and given options on possible routes forward as well as a broad estimate of what a cost could entail depending on a route the board determines.
Travis Feuchtmann, of Contegrity Group Construction Management, provided a rundown of the more immediate actions that could include among other things a new office/shop and storage buildings for the Public Works Campus for an estimated $14,723,357 million.
Broadly speaking, the entirety of the estimates given Tuesday, which also included possible phased department renovations of the Government Center, came to $37,580,203.90.
With these estimates in mind and nothing having been decided Tuesday, the Board will now start looking at what things they will want to concentrate their efforts on going forward in developing further its facilities master plan.
“We have something to look at now,” said Board Chair Polly Glynn.
