I guess this explains why they say: Americans don’t know what old is, Europeans don’t know what far is.
This is why I think we need a better Europe (UE) to compete with big countries like USA, Canada, Russia and China. A small country has no chances against them.
What amazes me the most of comparing European countries with North America is not just the size, [it’s the latitude](https://i.imgur.com/lwvtq4O.png) and the difference the Gulf Stream makes in the climate.
Chicago and NYC seem like they are at the same latitude as London or Berlin, but cold and windy Chicago is at the same latitude as sunny and warm Barcelona or Roma.
Another example: Edinburgh has a relatively mild climate and it seems like it’d be at the same latitude as Seattle but it’s at the same latitude as Alaska!
I still can’t fathom the idea that Texas is that big
Canarias mexicanas?

That’s a lot of guns
I teach in Galicia, and used this same website to show my kids that the Great Lakes are like the same size as all of Spain, and that they’re literally bigger then Galicia, because when I first told them they just didn’t believe me lol
It looks to me like the latitude is a bit off. Barcelona should be roughly in line with Boston, and here it’s quite a bit lower.
Or maybe it’s something to do with the projection. I’m not like, a cartographer, or whatever.
Also, the longitude is waaay off. On that count I’m sure.
Albania is bigger (?)
So Spain is Ohio. Got it.
The distance in a straight line between Washington DC and San Francisco (3919.133km) is almost the same as the distance between Lisbon and Moscow (3906.672km).
Driving between Lisbon and Moscow would be a lot longer, of course.

Now put it back
A bit uncorrect. Barcelona is at the latitude of Toronto, and Madrid-New York.
The latitude shocks me. I have lived most of my life in Alabama but about 2 years in Sevilla and, while the temperature is comparable, the Sevilla heat just hits different.
So Madrid is at the exact level of Denver… Interesting.
It’s actually not since u moved Spain further from the equator…lol
Barcelona weather is just a tad better than Chicago.
And this is why Americans don’t grow olives in the midwest
