I was lucky to visit Lake Bled last summer. I was wondering what you locals call the church in the middle of the lake. I found a name online that I used in the video, but I thought it was a bit long..

We simply call it “church,” although its full name is “Cerkev Marijinega vnebovzetja” or “Church of the Assumption of Mary.” But that’s nothing unusual, all churches are dedicated to different saints or to Mary, etc., yet people rarely refer to them by their full names in everyday conversation.

  3. To the general public it’s basically known as “the (or that) church on Lake Bled”… I mean… it’s a church, it’s on the lake (technically on an island, of course)… Why complicate?
