HOLLYWOOD, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Dozens of demonstrators were outside the new Tesla Diner in Hollywood on Sunday for the second night in a row to protest Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Organizers with Resist the Coup said they are outraged by Musk’s involvement with the Trump Administration.
“You don’t get to destroy our country, walk away, pretend to be the nice guy and pretend that you’re battling Donald Trump, when we all know that he’s secretly still in our government doing what he’s doing,” organizer Toby Bronson said.
Neighbors in the area are also upset with the Tesla Diner.
“If you can send people to Mars, you should be able to figure out how to make this doable for residents,” Laura Kody said.
Since it opened last week, the diner has caused traffic issues in the area of Santa Monica Boulevard and Sycamore Avenue.
“To me it just seems like a safety hazard, and all throughout the night you’re just hearing beeping,” said Torian Pope.
Residents in the area said that since the diner is open 24/7, they hear constant honking, have trouble finding parking and can’t safely cross the street.
“We were really excited for the supercharger station; we thought it would bring good business to the area, but it has caused insane gridlock from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m.,” a Hollywood resident said.
“The gridlock is insane. I can imagine that if there’s an emergency or something, an ambulance would literally not be able to get to us and that’s extremely concerning for me because my parents are elderly,” she added.
Video shows just how packed the surrounding streets are at night. Aside from the diner being open 24/7, there are more than 50 Tesla chargers.
“They should rent a local lot. They should have overflow waiting at the lot and use all the apps that are built in to let people know when it’s their turn,” said Kody.
Anti-DOGE protesters gathered outside the diner over the weekend, adding to the noise.
“This is just bringing so much chaos to our block. I would like to see a little more regulation, people directing traffic,” Pope added.
A statement from the office of City Council District 13 said, “Our office has been in touch with the Department of Transportation to increase its presence in the area to deter idling and loitering.”
