Former Pakistan cricketer Shabbir Ahmed levelled allegations against the Indian team after their thrilling win over England in the fifth Test at the Oval. India were in trouble, with Harry Brook and Joe Root aggressively guiding England to 301-3 in their chase of 374 runs. However, Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna spearheaded a strong Indian recovery, dismissing England for 367 and securing a narrow six-run win.

The pitch at the Oval offered support to bowlers and batsmen. On Day 5, the older ball swung significantly, making it hard for batters to score freely. While India could have taken the new ball after the 80th over, the old ball was still producing movement, so they wisely chose to keep using it, which paid off.

However, Shabbir raised questions and accused India of ball-tampering.

“I think India used Vaseline. After 80 + over Ball still shine like new Umpire should send this ball to lab for examine,” he wrote on X.

Many Indian players were competing in England for the first time. Despite facing these obstacles, India dominated England for the majority of the series.

Though they lost two games but India were a better team in those matches, with missed opportunities costing them. Nevertheless, they returned home with pride, having drawn the series 2-2.
