    edit: the second reason is that they hate Jews because they think we killed Jesus so it’s basically our fault that they have to be catholic.

    edit; the third reason is that they feel a strong kinship with Palestinians because they also believe that “non-violent protesting” can and should include throwing molotov cocktails.

    edit: the fourth reason is that both people stand tall and proud for their indigenous rights while being closely related to and looking exactly the same as their oppressors.

    Basically boils down to a mixture of poorer families (mainly in Dublin) needing to blame someone for there bad life, instead of blaming the goverment for years of shit policy basically leading to a horrible housing crisis + cost of living crisis, and also the very small but rising right wing groups using these factors to get people riled up.

    It doesn’t help that the Irish goverment has coasted for years on a very lax prison policy (people blame the garda(police force) for not doing anything, but its actually the judicial system thats screwed were violent offenders and teenagers are being allowed walk free on suspended senteces due to prison overcrowding with little to no consequences.)

    Its emerging more and more now due to how bad some people have it in regards to being able to afford to live, that mixed with constant streaming of right wing talking point like immigration, IPAS applicants(asylum) showing how there “treated better” then Irish citizens is leading to this rising generation of parents being more openly racist which is then rubbing off on thier children

    This is nothing new sadly, usually when it happens against Irish people it doesnt make national headlines and is dismissed as “Anti-Social behavior”

    The people doing these attacks just get to walk free because they’re usually under 18, and nothing happens to them because of it. It’s disgusting.
