Denmark’s Anne Troensegaard and Slangerupgaards Saffron

VERDEN, Germany, Aug. 6, 2025–A pair of Denmark mares claimed the top two places Wednesday in the first qualification for six-year-olds to kick off the World Young Horse Championships.

Slangerupgaards Saffron, a Danish Warmblood mare (Secret x Scolari) ridden by Anne Troensegaard, finished atop the starting lineup of 40 horses with a score of 92.200. The black mare received 9.7 for trot, 8.9 for walk, 9 for canter, 8.9 for submission and 9.6 for perspective.

Brandtbjergs Divya, also a Danish Warmblood mare (Hesselhoej Donkey Boy) with Anders Sjöbeck Hoeck aboard, was runner-up on a personal best score of 92.000. The mare received 9.5 for trot, 9 for walk, 9.2 canter, 8.7 submission and 9.6 perspective.

Red Viper, a Dutch-bred stallion (Glock’s Romanov x Sir Sinclair) was ridden by Netherlands Olympian Dinja van Liere for a personal best 90.000, made up of 9.1 for trot, 8.5 walk, 9.5 canter, 8.5 submission and 9.4 perspective.

The U.S.-bred O Romeo S (Charmeur x UB 40) ridden by Hope Cooper in her first world championships placed 12th to make it into the final. Hope of Concord, Massachusetts and Romeo received 8 for trot, 8.3 for walk, 8.5 canter, 8.4 submission and 8.5 perspective.
