To commemorate their introduction to the greater Grand Forks region, Agristo is hosting a “Taste of Belgium” at Grand Forks Town Square later this month. The Belgium-based potato processor is building its first U.S. potato processing facility in Grand Forks.

“It’s going to be a huge boom for the potato industry across the state and for northwest Minnesota” said Brandon Bochenski, Grand Forks, North Dakota, Mayor.

The event on Monday Aug. 25, from 4 to 8 p.m., will include free fries, a variety of food vendors, live entertainment, “spudtakular” giveaways (while supplies last), family-friendly activities, and more – all open to the public.

Attendees will also have a chance to hear from Agristo leadership and Mayor Bochenski with scheduled remarks at 6 p.m.

Agristo has significantly increased its market share in the private label French fry segment within the U.S.

The company recently collaborated with Red River Valley farmers to test several potato varieties, and has begun preparations for their new site in Grand Forks. This site will join processing facilities in Belgium, The Netherlands, India, and France – and will be the company’s first production facility in the U.S.
