Prince William’s Answer to Being Asked if He’s the King Surprises Fans in Throwback Video originally appeared on Parade.
It’s no exaggeration to say that Prince William is one of the most instantly recognizable figures in the world — but in one recently resurfaced video, a young student in Liverpool was a little bit confused about the royal’s identity.
In a clip shared to TikTok this week by Daily Mail Royals, the Prince of Wales was approached by a 5-year-old boy named Mohammed while visiting a school in Liverpool on what appeared to be a very chilly day.
“Are you the king?” Mohammed asked.
“No, I’m not,” William replied, bending down to address the boy. “I’m his son.”
The royal went on to chat with Mohammed for a few moments before moving on, asking him whether he had a good day at school while rubbing his hands together briskly.
Commenters were quick to praise the heir to the throne for his humble response.
“He could’ve said ‘Not yet,'” one person pointed out.
“Modesty is a trait of the great,” a second fan declared, with another raving, “Great future King.”
“Just like Diana,” someone else added.
As countless royal-watchers around the world are well aware, as the elder son of King Charles and the late Princess Diana, William, 43, is next in line to the throne. He is followed by his three children with Kate Middleton: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7.
