A ha-ha is a type of sunken fence that was commonly used in landscaped gardens and parks in the 18th century. The point of the ha-ha was to give the viewer of the garden the illusion of an unbroken, continuous rolling lawn, whilst providing boundaries for grazing livestock.

There is an Avenue Road in South London.
I always think “Just make your mind up”.
And a Ho-ho is like a ha-ha but deeper. GNU Sir Terry.
we had a Haha at our house. Cows still managed to get on the lawns and wreck them.
I can’t not read this in Nelson voice
For me the best is Kyiv Road, outside Russian embassy. So all their mail probably says ‘Kyiv road’ on it.

There is a Blue Ball Yard in Mayfair, if I recall correctly
Bellenden Road in Peckham.

Butthole lane, Loughborough.
I saw a Tally-Ho on a bus once. Forgot where it was supposed to be. Sounds fun.
Friend Street, Islington (ooh, friend)
I’ve always been a fan of Poultry in the City of London.
Not Poultry Street. Just Poultry.

There’s a Back Passage in the City of London as well as Cock Lane.
Helmet Row EC1.
I often cycle past Cockmannings Lane near Orpington. Always amuses 😀
I like Goodenough Rd [https://maps.app.goo.gl/qUNax6fULJvXb44v9](https://maps.app.goo.gl/qUNax6fULJvXb44v9)
It’s not technically in London but it *is* accessible via Oyster, [Quality Street](https://maps.app.goo.gl/S64wXwhdUgf51LGX9).

That Ha-ha is behind the Woolwich Arsenal barracks. They had the 2012 olympic shooting tournament there, so they had to close the road.
Hence the sign:

Laughing at you because they’ve closed the road really is rubbing it in.
I always chuckle when I have to set the satnav to “Black Park Country Park Car Park”

I was going to go and view a house for sale on this road in Bromley recently, but I was worried if I moved here it would affect the number of Christmas cards I get posted to me
There’s this one between Lewisham and Brockley, although to be fair the overgrown shrub is obscuring the real name. 😉

Some London Roads are named for what was sold there once. So Milk Street and Bread Road make sense. Imagine my disappointment in finding a Sandwich Street without a single sandwich shop. 🥲
I only know about ha-has because of the 1978 How Annual I was given that Christmas. My wife didn’t believe they existed and that I had made it up.
Not London, but here in York we have a street named Whip-Ma-Whop-Ma-Gate
Ha ha road, named after the ditch.
Not too far from there you have King’s Butts in Eltham.

2 streets away from me, I always wander around but it never delivers what’s being advertised.
There’s Back Passage – annoyingly it doesn’t seem to appear on Google Maps but i think it’s EC4 or somewhere like that. Also apparently there used to be more than one Gropecunt Lane 🫢
Near Bank, there is a short street called “[Trump Street](https://maps.app.goo.gl/Dw7knhhcsZFF6vCu7?g_st=ipc)”. It then turns into “Russia Row” ¯_(ツ)_/¯
There’s an area that sits between Mitcham and Streatham known as Lonesome. I often wonder how it got that name.

This one always makes me smile
Not London, but in Birmingham city centre there’s Needless Alley.
Personally, I couldn’t see the point of it.
