KCCI SUZANNE BANK WAS THERE. SHE HAS THE DETAILS OF THIS MEETING. SUZANNE STACEY AND JODI GOVERNOR KIM REYNOLDS ANNOUNCED THE IOWA TASK FORCE IN HER CONDITION OF THE STATE SPEECH IN JANUARY. TODAY, THREE WORK GROUPS MADE UP OF BUSINESS EXECUTIVES, HIGHER EDUCATION LEADERS AND ELECTED OFFICIALS REVEALED THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS. SO FAR, THERE WERE 45 PRESENTED AT THE THIRD FULL MEETING OF THE TASK FORCE, AND WE’RE SHARING JUST A FEW OF THOSE WITH YOU FROM THE WORKFORCE COMMITTEE, TASK FORCE MEMBERS PROPOSED ELIMINATING DUPLICATE WORKFORCE PROGRAMS AND ADDING MORE APPRENTICESHIPS, INTERNSHIPS AND APPRENTICESHIPS. THEY ALSO WOULD CREATE A RED TAPE HOTLINE TO HELP TROUBLESHOOT CONFUSION OR SOME ISSUES ACCESSING GOVERNMENT. THE TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE’S FOCUS WAS ON STREAMLINING, SUCH AS UPDATING LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMPUTER SYSTEMS USING CLOUD SERVICES MORE, AND IN ONE IDEA PROVIDING A SINGLE USER LOGIN FOR EACH IOWAN WHEN THEY NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THINGS WITH THE GOVERNMENT, LIKE RENEWING A DRIVER’S LICENSE, THE LAST COMMITTEE CENTERED ITS IDEA ON A RETURN TO ON TAXPAYER INVESTMENT. THEY BROUGHT UP PERFORMANCE BASED PAY FOR EDUCATORS REDOING THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM FOR PUBLIC WORKERS, AND HAVING CITIES AND COUNTIES SHARE SOME SERVICES.
