WASHINGTON (TNND) — The Trump administration has a new messaging strategy to challenge false stories and engage in pop culture. The administration’s communications staff is now focusing on countering misinformation through social media, podcasts and even memes. The Department of Homeland Security posted a video on ‘X’ recently, dismissing several rumors about the department. Including a viral TikTok where an immigration lawyer claims she was given a Taco Bell phone number instead of a real one.

This is a total lie. In fact, after she posted this hoax, ICE even attempted to reach out to her, to get her information on her clients,” Lauren Bis, Deputy Assistant DHS Secretary said in the video.

The administration is even engaging in pop culture following massive liberal backlash over American Eagle’s new jean campaign, featuring actress Sydney Sweeney. Some people online called it eugenics and Nazism.

Like a blonde haired, blue eyed white woman is talking about her good genes. Like, that is Nazi propaganda,” one person said in a video on ‘X.’ “They’re not guessing. They know who they’re talking to when they pick Sydney Sweeney. When they shoot the ad a certain kind of way,” Jason Lee, Senior Editor of Bossip said while appearing on CNN Saturday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection jumped on the cultural hype, releasing a gene-related recruitment video. Part of which says, “our horse patrol unit has great genes. Genes that can stand up to the most rugged of rides.” Plus, President Donald Trump weighed in on social media. Writing on Truth Social in part, “Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the “HOTTEST” ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are “flying off the shelves.” Go get ‘em Sydney!

Similar to the Trump administration, American Eagle isn’t backing down to critics, highlighting a potential cultural shift. The company refused to apologize, instead posting on Instagram that the ad has always been about the jeans.
