  1. Officially it’s because crypto shouldn’t be advertised as a solution for anything, which is kind of correct as cryptocurrencies are merely based on speculation and not backed by anything other than greed.

I think the real reason is that it hits too hard home, puts the finger too hard on the sore spot, is made by a bunch of yankees and applauded by Gollums ugly cousin. But the most outrageous thing is that it pokes fun of good old fashioned British musical theatre culture. Hands off the West End!

  2. This used to be a place for memes. Time to find a new place… cheerio!

  3. Do they look at Reddit and determine this is the UK based on the comments on here?

  4. Reminder, company is backed by George Osborn, whose job for six years was it -not- being like this.

So, if you 100% agree with it or 100% disagree, you gotta admire someone’s willingness to openly admit at the best it’s a big part their fault and at worst they have worked to engineer this situation to make money out of you.

    So that’s fun. Thanks, George.

  5. surprised there is no immigration or knife crime dog whistles…

tbh, I feel this is that kind of phenomenon in which first-world people citizens see small degradations on their standards of living as the worst thing possible. The UK remains an OK place to live, with a lot of opportunities and a decent degree of stability

  6. Totally unrealistic. No one was being attacked by an XL bully.

  7. I hate that a bloody crypto website advert is being more honest about the current state of the UK than our own government or media…

  8. well cos like 99% of the advert has nothing to do with cryptocurrency and is just completely bashing Britain lol

  9. Is the meme that it’s a lie and this advert wasn’t banned?

  10. M8 invested £2500

    2 years later

    It was worth £200

    Don’t fall for Crypto

  11. Probably banned because of the rat getting kicked at the end too

  12. “Want a better life? Try gambling your hard earned wage on shit coins and memes.”

  13. Crypto isn’t banned in the UK though?

If you mean the ad itself, falls foul of advertising standards (guidelines can be quite stringent with some products)

  14. Just watched this with my partner. As brits we love this and fully endorse the message.

I’m totally done with this shit hole

  15. Trying to say Crypto is the answer to life’s problems. If you’re poor crypto will finish the job and make you broke. Stay away.

  16. Accurate. Forget shit coins, buy BTC and you’ll make it

  17. Because: “it failed to adequately warn viewers about the risks and volatility associated with cryptocurrency investments.” which I think is fair enough really.

The advertising standards agency does what it says on the tin.

  18. I bet it’s the bit at the end where the bin man kicks a rat.

  19. Totally realistic apart from the positivity, you could stick a £100 in everyone’s pockets and half the country would complain about it.

I also lost it at the literal shower of shit.

  20. This is would be good if it was satire. But it’s utterly shocking that crypto is tapping into people’s unhappiness and disillusionment. Dystopian really.

  21. Because it’s being advertised as alternative to a higher interest savings account, which has to be FCA approved. Where in reality it’s like gambling in stocks and shares.
