  1. “Demonic”, if someone believes in “demons” there is nothing coming out of their mouth that I really care to hear about.

  2. my goal in life is to be hated by conservative christians

  3. They said the same thing about the mere existence of the show when it first came out.

  4. Maybe cast Kevin in the next one and actually crucify him so it’s biblically correct. Maybe then he will feel ok with it.

  5. If they hate it, it must be outstanding. I’m not generally a fan of musicals or theater necessarily (bad in crowded places) I do love expressive art though.

  6. Christians upset about JCS? Yawn… what else ya got?

  7. Wait until they find out Jesus would not have been white.😵

Pretty sure ‘conservative christian’ is an oxymoron. They do not embody and of Christianity’s teachings.

  8. I’m really starting not to care at all about outrage from Christian Conservatives. They’ve been outraging for decades. Yawn.

  9. The only demons on this Earth ARE conservative “Christians”. Have fun not inheriting the earth!

  10. Conservative Christians hate something a woman of color does… News at 11.

Seriously though, these pearl clutching sandbags can all go suck a dick.

  11. If this ends the phrase

    Cultural appropriation

I don’t care if she draws a pentagram on stage and lights candles

  12. Isn’t jesus christ superstar a blasphemic take any how?…. It is a weird casting sure but at least the skin colour is kinda of right?

  13. I mean.. Christians are fucking dumb, but casting her in this role is bait.

This is a marketing tactic. Use bait you know will outrage a group, so that other people will come to its defense by buying tickets.

Same thing with calling Superman an immigrant.

  14. A friend of mine once got in an argument with another friend of ours one night. We were all drunk and he started giving her shit about being called Martha. She got offended in the way that only drunk people can do, and told him that her name was in the Bible. He refused to believe her. In the morning, he woke up to discover that while he was drunk he’d orddered the Jesus Christ Superstar soundtrack from Amazon to prove his point. I doubt the Conservative Christians would like that story too much

  15. Next time a conservative tells you they are “Christian,” just tell them, no, you’re not and walk away. Works every time.

  16. Hasn’t this show always had backlash from the religious folks lol like wasn’t the opening night in the 70s a whole thing?

  17. Kevin Sorbo couldn’t act his way out of a barn, so I’m guessing he’s jealous. Or just a judgmental prick. Dunno.

  18. Death, taxes, conservatives pearl clutching about Jesus Christ Superstar.

What’s funny is Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice were both conservatives themselves when they wrote the musical. They’re not now (Rice stopped being one in the 2000s and Weber stopped being one after Covid), but it’s funny to see that conservatives have always hated a musical that was written by two at the time conservatives themselves.

  19. Bc she’s black gay and female
    All things demonic!!

  20. Right! They’re the proper people to judge such things!

  21. As a reminder, these are the people who dismiss Christ’s calls for compassion and dignity and peace as “woke.”

  22. Conservasive Christians fly into a rage on matters that don’t involve them. News at 11.

  23. Haha that’s rich. My Catholic family told me the concept of a rock opera about Jesus was already demonic.
