The Croatian Pension Insurance Institute (HZMO) reported a total of 1,788,240 insured persons at the end of July 2025 — an increase of 39,145 or 2.24% compared to the same month last year.

According to figures published on the institute’s website, the number of insured persons in June was 101,611 higher than on June 30, 2023 — a 6.02% rise. Compared to June 2022, that number jumped by 142,490, marking a significant 8.66% increase over a two-year period.

These figures represent the highest number of insured individuals in Croatia in the past three decades, underscoring strong employment trends.

HZMO notes that the number of insured persons is a key indicator of employment levels. The sectors with the highest number of registered workers at the end of June 2025 were:

Manufacturing – 250,284 insured

Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 244,424

Construction – 151,197

The data reflects the continued strength of Croatia’s labour market across multiple industries, especially during the peak summer season.
