Boris Johnson avoids mentioning Ukraine, in bid not to ruffle host’s feathers on India trip ‘Done by Divali’: UK prime minister urges speed in concluding free trade deal with India

  1. Hes almost as embarrassing as the top gear trade delegation episode – but that at least was amusing

  2. “UK prime minister urges speed in concluding free trade deal with India”..

..means the slimey toad is up to something.

  3. Yet again Boris capitulates to a foreign government. His broken deal was him bending over to the EU and now he’s bending over to India in a way that benefits Putin.

  4. Its called diplomacy. You cant just wade in telling india what to do if you want to make deals. On this one little thing he is doing right thing,

  5. After “pledging” to try and stop the Indians buying dirt cheap Russian oil. Truss tried this a week or so ago and got absolutely humiliated.

    Edit:

He instructed diplomats to “get on with it” [the deal] and “get it done” by October. The aim is to double trade with India in ten years time.

Seems this trip was completely pointless as well.

  6. There will be no free trade agreement. Getting one with India is very very difficult. They’ve already declined us one. Nothing has changed.

Bojo will come back with a nonbinding commitment to buy 10% more clowncars and hail it the greatest victory in diplomacy since Nixon went to China.

  7. The purpose of this trade deal is to make it easy for Rishi’s Infosys to import cheaper IT workers from India.

Many Tory members are invested in this.

  8. The Torys have reduced the entire notion of governance to 3 word slogans.

Thats all they are good for, and people still bleat and parrot the slogans no matter what.

  9. I remember pre-Brexit India insisting on free movement of people as a caveat to a trade deal, let’s see if that happens and how many Brexiters need immediate defibrillation when they realise.

  10. It’s not like Modi will not know how Johnson feels about the issue and vice versa. Johnson also allowed the sale of weapons to Saudi Arabia to commit atrocities in Yemen. He will abandon any principle if it means he can make money from it. He wants haste to get Partygate off the front page and to make it seem like he is still the man to lead the Tories for the next few years. He will happily abandon any alleged remaining principles to do just that.

  11. Putin’s henchmen (i.e., those nations that support his war crimes) NEED to be called out. Otherwise, the disease continues to spread.
