“This new plant, if completed, will be the largest ever built in Australia, even surpassing BP Solar’s legacy structures. And the goal is clear: to meet part of the country’s demand for 22,000 new panels installed per day to meet its decarbonization goals.”
I’ve wondered when Aus would start manufacturing enough panels to give China a run for its money. Seems like a natural fit for the world’s sunniest continent.
Massive doubt.
Australia simply does not have the amount of: industrial machinery and automation, to keep production costs constantl and predictable; cheap skilled and experienced labor, to lower labor costs; solar panel production supply chain, from raw material processing to finished products to be assembled. Where are they going to import this from when China is the only country with all of those?
Supply chain matters and China simply beats the West in it.
