Yettel is preparing for one of Europe’s biggest music events with the capacity of a medium-sized county seat. Sziget Festival, one of Europe’s largest music and cultural events kicked off again on Wednesday, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The festival’s official telecommunications partner, Yettel, is once again providing an outstanding network experience in line with the needs of a medium-sized county seat.


Large-scale events like Sziget, where tens or even hundreds of thousands of people gather at once and use their mobile phones to connect, obtain information and share experiences, require special mobile network preparation. In the Sziget area, Yettel is strengthening the everyday network capacity by building a total of 31 sectors at 20 additional locations, together with its network infrastructure partner, Cetin, so that the mobile network can reliably serve the sudden surge in data and voice traffic demand during the event.


In addition to network developments, Yettel, as the official telecommunications partner, will increase the number of Mobile Charging Points located in the festival area, thus ensuring that festivalgoers are reachable throughout. Continuous availability is ensured not only by the reinforced network and Yettel Mobile Charging Points, but also by the Yepp digital subscription, which domestic festival-goers can apply for online and with which they can even try unlimited internet access free of charge during Sziget. The mobile operator also offers unlimited domestic data to foreign visitors, with newly available Yettel Pass packages created specifically for tourists.

Based on last year’s experience, we can say that the reinforced network tested well at Sziget, and the customer experience was stable throughout the festival. This year, we continued our developments based on this foundation. Traffic is growing year after year, so we also increased the capacity and made further developments in 5G, especially in the most frequently visited areas, such as around the Main Stage, where most people stream and share their experiences. This time, we are preparing to serve the hundreds of thousands of visitors throughout the entire festival area with the network capacity of a medium-sized city.
