Failed US Government Wants To Dismantle $7 billion Solar For All Program. The program is intended to help low- and moderate-income homeowners install solar on their homes and to expand community solar initiatives. 900,000 households were expected to save more than $350 million each year.

Southern Environmental Law Center is getting ready to sue (again) if necessary:

Any sovereignty (I’d argue especially energy sovereignty) is the enemy of a fascist/totalitarian/oligopoly state…
7 billion, to save $350M/year is a 20 year break even.
That gets worse when the lifecycle of solar is brought into the equation.
How is this not just torching big wads of taxpayer dollars?
You see, that would cut the profits of the oil, methane, and coal dealers that are the biggest financial backers of the GOP. Can’t have that.
That’s interesting because no one where I’m from who has installed solar has had lower payments than they would had they stayed fully on grid.
I’d like to see the raw data on this one.
Hm I don’t really mind it. Install solar but at large scale. Putting on houses, particularly if they don’t use much electricity, is a waste
God forbid we have people put solar on their houses, and cut the big electric companies out of some revenue. See how much money Ameren and Duke energy have given to Trump and his minion politicians. And the big electric provider in Illinois.
Once again Trump.and his simpering minions make life for everyday Americans more miserable.
so, doing the math, ROI if the program covered all the costs of the conversion to solar for these homes in 18.9 years. since the program is meant to “help “ there are additional conversion expenses so add some unknown additional time. Plus the opportunity costs of that 7 billion not used for other programs. Good quality and maintained panels have a life on 25 years, which is unlikely for all the homes.
That’s one of the complaints about focusing on solar, and wind.
The math does not work, there has to be more effective solutions, “in the mix.
$7000 per household isn’t gonna cover the cost of solar for a low income household. who’s was planning on paying the rest
Can’t be having those poors not paying for power plants needed by data centers.
MAGA wants to ensure everything is more expensive for the poor and the working classes.
They’ll launch a new program for personal diesel generators so you can enjoy the serenity of a loud engine and the wonderful aroma diesel fumes everywhere you go. It’s part of the “rebranding” of America where pollution and an overwhelming sense of dread are the new fresh air and relaxation, and everyone is angry all the time.
