Well going back to historical figures, U.S. President Andrew Jackson’s parents were both from Carrickfergus, the guy who freed Chile from the Spanish, Bernardo O Higgins had a father from Sligo. Anthony Quinn the Mexican actor had an Irish father.
The Sheen’s are from Kilbarron.
Was in digs during college in Sligo & my landlady alluded to shifting Mel Gibson (my words, not hers) when they were teenagers as his family visited Sligo a few times when he was young.
