The Hydrogen Technological Roadmap (H2), prepared by the Economic-Energy Studies and Energy Generation superintendencies of the Energy Research Company (EPE), within the scope of the technical cooperation agreement with Itaipu Parquetec, presents an analysis of the technological and regulatory perspectives for the hydrogen market in Brazil up to 2055.
Divided into two technical notes, entitled “Regulatory perspectives for low-carbon hydrogen in Brazil” and “Technological pathways, innovation opportunities and production costs of hydrogen of different carbon intensities in Brazil”, the roadmap presents a set of discussions on the development prospects of this market, with the aim of supporting decision-making by public and private entities and national energy planning.
As a result, a set of short-, medium-, and long-term regulatory proposals are presented to ensure the adequate development of this vector, in addition to a detailed overview of the technologies and costs associated with the low-carbon H2 production and logistics chains, considering different production routes.
