Two individuals from the Greater Toronto Area have been arrested and charged following a significant drug trafficking investigation by the North Bay Police Service

Police say a months-long investigation culminated this week with the arrest of a man and woman believed to be involved in moving illegal narcotics into the city.

On July 31 at 10:34 a.m., officers arrested two people without incident after an investigation revealed they were actively trafficking controlled substances and travelling from the Greater Toronto Area to North Bay to traffic illicit drugs.

Police say during the investigation, both were seen engaging in illegal activities before being taken into custody.

Subsequent searches led to the seizure of $5,225 in cash.

Also seized were drugs with an estimated street value of $8,980, including:

27.5 grams of cocaine
36.1 grams of crystal methamphetamine
26.2 grams of crack cocaine
2021 GMC Sierra pickup truck

Theresa Schrader, 49, of Toronto and Jesse John Grant, 37, male, of Mississauga are charged with:

Trafficking in a Schedule I substance – cocaine
Trafficking in a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine (Crystal Meth)
Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Schrader is also charged with failing to comply with a probation order

Both were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in court on September 16.

“We are committed to shutting down drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of our community,” said Acting Deputy Chief Jeff Warner. “Our Street Crime Unit showed dedication and persistence in making this arrest possible.”
