Jimmy Fallon roasted President Donald Trump’s tariff plans on his latest episode, just before bringing on the Jonas Brothers. In his 10-minute monologue, Fallon tackled headline-making political news, especially Trump’s trade war with over 90 countries, including India, Brazil, and Canada, now dealing with some of the highest rates. He also dragged Sydney Sweeney’s recent American Eagle backlash into the show after Trump publicly backed her. The monologue came a day after Trump dissed Fallon and Kimmel while gloating over Stephen Colbert’s exit.
Jimmy Fallon reacts to Donald Trump’s tariff war
“Today, more of President Trump’s tariffs hit over 90 countries, including Canada, Brazil, and India,” Fallon kicked off his standup. He added, “The only places Trump didn’t charge are North Korea and Epstein’s island,” taking a jab at Trump’s alleged ties with the disgraced financier mentioned in the recent WSJ bombshell. Fallon warned about what could happen if the trade war with Brazil escalates. “Fifty per cent tariffs on Brazil will skyrocket prices for bananas, mangoes, and pineapples,” he said, then joked, “Edible Arrangements are safe, as long as you don’t hike the price of cantaloupe and long toothpicks.” He went on, “Even toilet paper’s gonna cost more, and you know it’s bad when people come out of the bathroom like, ‘Hey, where’s that long CVS receipt?’”
Earlier, Trump hit India with an extra 25 percent tariff after the country refused to stop oil trade with Russia, a long-time partner. The new order hasn’t been signed yet, but it will take effect 21 days after the announcement, unless revoked. This puts India alongside Brazil, which already faces a 50 percent tariff. Brazil’s recent 40 percent reciprocal tariff came in response to the prosecution of former President Jair Bolsonaro.
On his show, Fallon read a headline saying Donald Trump set a deadline for Russia to end the war in Ukraine. Calling it “high on Trump’s to-do list,” the comedian joked, “Right under building a new ballroom to meet Sydney Sweeney.” Trump had earlier defended Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney after learning she’s a registered Republican. Sweeney is facing backlash over her recent American Eagle jeans ad, where the brand delivered a pun on “genes” and “jeans”, which some on the left slammed as Nazi propaganda and racism.

Fallon then joked that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to meet Trump next week, imagining all the other leaders looking at Trump like, “Oo, you’re in trouble.” Just a day earlier, the US President said he’s willing to talk with Putin, even though the Kremlin has repeatedly dismissed any plans to meet Trump in the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, rejecting any trilateral talks. On Thursday, the Kremlin reportedly announced it would only meet Trump without Zelenskyy as a condition for the US-Russia summit.

Apart from politics, Donald Trump has recently been targeting late-night show hosts. After CBS announced plans to end Colbert’s show, Trump predicted that both “talentless” Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel would be next to get booted off the air, while falsely claiming Howard Stern’s departure from Sirius XM.
