RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Every year, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally tends to bring plenty of bikers and visitors to the Black Hills area, meaning an increase in revenue for some businesses.
One Deadwood business, Berg Jewelry and Gifts Black Hills Gold and Diamonds, has been reaping the benefits of this year’s rally.
The store owner, Dale Berg, said their sales are up 22 percent for this year’s rally compared to last year’s. He added his store always tends to experience good business during the summer.
Berg said it’s typical to see an increase in sales during a tally anniversary year, even in the middle of the COVID pandemic in 2020.
“We were very open,” said Berg. “We actually had a very good year surprisingly. We were one of the few states that Gov. Kristi Noem kept us open and happy. So, no complaints here.”
Berg said approximately 300 customers came through his business just on Friday.
At the store, customers can find plenty of jewelry, knives and t-shirts.
