‘We want this war to be over’: Israeli hostage families protest in Tel Aviv • FRANCE 24 English

Horror and anguish. Emotions ran high this Saturday in Tel Aviv’s hostage square. In the last few days, Hamas and the Islamic Jihad released videos of two hostages, Rahm Braslavski, shown here, and Evia Davided. They appeared weak and emaciated. In their current unimaginable condition, they may have only days left to live. Kamas is using a Vatar in one of the most horrific and calculated campaigns of cruelty imaginable. Not far away, in front of Israel’s defense ministry, protesters came to demand an end to the country’s ongoing conflict to release remaining hostages. Of those taken during Hamas’s attack nearly 2 years ago, 49 hostages are still being held by the armed group in Gaza. Today we’ve been seeing holocaust views from the tunnels of the kamas in Gaza, the tunnels of the terrorists and also the children in Gaza that are suffering at the same time. We want this war to be over. The only way to get a ceasefire and a hostage there is pressure on Netanyahu. Only pressure on Netanyahu from every direction will end this big for the good of the hostages and for the good of the Israeli state. Israel considers the disarmament of Hamas to be a precondition for any ceasefire agreement, which the militant group refuses without the establishment of a Palestinian state.

Over the past few days, Hamas and its ally Islamic Jihad have released three videos showing two hostages seized during the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel that triggered the ongoing war in Gaza. The videos sparked reactions from Israelis who are stepping up calls for a truce securing the release of the remaining captives before it’s too late.
