Princess Eugenie is known to be a firm fan of Formula One, often touring the world to go trackside with her sister, Princess Beatrice, and her cousin, Zara Tindall. It would be no surprise, therefore, if the younger daughter of the Duke of York and Sarah Ferguson were paying close attention to the rumours that current World Champion Max Verstappen may soon be her neighbour.
According to Daily Mail, Verstappen and his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, have bought land at Pinheirinho Comporta in Portugal, the luxury development where Princess Eugenie reportedly lives alongside the likes of Christian Louboutin, Claudia Schiffer and Madonna. The outlet claims that the 65-time Grand Prix winner and his model partner are looking to build a property at the holiday destination, which boasts a championship golf course and a spa.
The couple will certainly be looking to the future, having welcomed their first child together back in May, with Max breaking the news in a joint social media post ahead of the Florida Grand Prix. Taking to Instagram, the Dutch driver shared a photograph of his newborn daughter, revealing her name to his 14 million followers. ‘Welcome to the world, sweet Lily,’ wrote Verstappen and Piquet in a shared post. ‘Our hearts are fuller than ever – you are our greatest gift. We love you so much.’
And what better neighbours than Princess Eugenie, her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and their children, August and Ernest? The family divide their time between their British home (Ivy Cottage in Kensington Palace) and Portugal, where they purchased a home in 2022 due to Brooksbank’s work in the Algarve on a project alongside property developer Mike Meldman.
