During the first six days of August, Ukraine increased the transfer of grain cargo through railway border crossings with Poland and Slovakia, while a decrease was recorded at the border with Hungary. These figures were announced by Valerii Tkachev, Deputy Director of the Department of Transportation Technology and Commercial Operations at JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia”.
“Currently, an average of 25.1 railcars with grain per day are heading to Poland. This is 16 more units than last week. The volume of grain transfer through the Ukrainian-Slovak border crossings increased by 20.2 railcars. Currently, the figure is 29.6 units per day (+20 railcars),” he specified.
The number of railcars with grain moving daily through the junctions with Hungary has decreased – the current figure is 12.6 units per day. This is 7.1 railcars fewer compared to the last week of July.
Grain shipments to Romania remained unchanged over the week and are at the level of 5.1 railcars per day.
“The total average daily volume of grain and meal transfers is 134 railcars per day. Over the six days of August, this figure increased by 25 units per day, or by 35.4% compared to last week,” added V. Tkachev.
He also noted that currently, there are no obstacles to cargo transfer, border railway crossings are operating normally, and are utilized at 50% of their technical capacity.
