  1. This is a good thing because it means less competition in crypto mining, so I make more

  2. So, electricity prices have gone up by between 2 and 3% a year?

  3. That’s actually not too bad over the past decade, about 2.8% per year. It’s going to get worse over the next decade though. Wire has gone up due to tariffs and supply issues. Bucket trucks have nearly doubled in price over the past 5 years. Labor keeps getting more expensive. The most expensive piece though will be new generation. We’ve gotten by with aging plants for decades that are now coming to end of life. So not only do we have increased demand, we also need to replace the decaying infrastructure of the past. Electric bills are not going to look pretty for the foreseeable future.

  4. “Skyrocketed” 32% in over 10 years. Basically on par with inflation (or even less). Then the article says they have been rising faster than inflation since 2022 (that’s more reasonable, but inflation is a compound average so of course some things go faster than it), and they haven’t skyrocketed at all. The only place where they have seriously gone up is California.

    Anyway, sensationalism sucks.

  5. Energy prices have risen so rapidly that I bought solar panels for my house.

  6. It depends where you live, but if you’re in a regulated utility state, the prices have not increased anywhere near what some of you are commenting about. It could also be that it’s getting hotter and hotter and so you’re running your air conditioner more. Just get a more fuel efficient car to offsetyour air conditioner.

  7. Follow the exportation and price of LNG and the curves are DAMN close.

  8. The total aggregate inflation over that period is 35.8%. Don’t think this headline has the impact you think it has.

  9. It’s about to be politicized in the worst ways possible, as with everything these days. Where we could just charge data center operators more money.

  10. So when is America going to wake up? Renewables are not cheep ! And before they started shutting down So called fossil fuels power plants they didn’t have enough so called renewables in place! Rolling Black Outs are so the way to go!
