Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke by phone on Friday, reaffirming what they described as the excellent state of Greek-US relations.
They noted that the partnership is strengthened by US investments in Greece and a shared commitment to deepen cooperation both bilaterally and through multilateral frameworks involving Cyprus and Israel.
The two also discussed the situation in Libya, emphasizing the need to advance the political process toward free elections, reduce foreign interference, and ensure respect for international law on maritime zone delimitation. They also underlined the importance of controlling illegal migration flows.

International developments, particularly in the Middle East and Ukraine, were also reviewed.
The State Department spokesperson commented on the conversation, stating that the “strategic importance of US-Greece energy cooperation in the Eastern Mediterranean” was the focus of the telephone conversation between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
He added that the head of US diplomacy “affirmed the continued strength of the United States’ bilateral relationship with Greece and its role as a key ally in NATO.”
