  1. never thought I’d see the day when Prishtina’s making headlines.

  2. To some extent the love the former Yugoslavian states* have for their war criminals (sentenced or not) has always been baffling to me.

On some intellectual level I can understand why Kosovo Albanians have some level of reverence for Thaci, He was instrumental in unifying a very splintered KLA and set reasonable goals for peace negotiations… But he was also an exceptionally brutal “ends-justify-the-means” kind of guy who had no compunctions about murdering his rivals within KLA, making civilians “disappear” or financing his army through drug sales and even more heinous crimes (a bunch of fairly well backed charges on organ and human trafficking).

*All of them. Serbs, Croats, Bosniaks, Kosovo-Albanians…

  3. “The epochal victories would have been impossible without the courage, struggle, and selflessness of the best boys and girls of the Kosovo Liberation Army of this country,”

epochal victories sprinkled with (war) crimes here and there cannot become pure mythical victories. that is why they protest.

  4. Are war criminals really that liked in former Yugoslavia?

  5. And then they criticize the Kosovo-Serbs that they don’t respect the kosovar flag.

  6. Fuck them. Thaci did horrible stuff to Serbs and robbed Albanians. Support for such a man is beyond me, there have to be better people to support.

Edit: I forgot one important thing. He is also an organ trafficker.

  7. Kosovo is Serbian, I will never back away from this.

  8. Beef beetwen serbs and albanians is overrated. During last 120 years we only caused like 30k casualities to each other.

  9. Looooool, the level of stupidity among these people protesting…

  10. Comments on this post show the level of discourse on this sub.

  11. Patriotic balkan people from Croatia to Turkey trying not to support their war criminals challenge (level impossible)

  12. Comments are surprisingly civil considering the headline.

The problem with ex-Yu is that people never want to look at what their side did, so we always glorify our glorious generals, and always hate their barbaric genocidal maniacs.
The same stands for genocides and ethnic cleansings and other crimes against humanity.

These wounds will never heal if we dont change our approach. And sadly I dont see it happening.

  13. Why is this post full of non Yugos pretending their countries would or did do better when faced with same situations?

  14. Downvote me how much you want, I just hate that people here think that if you’re being tried for war crimes you’re automatically a war criminal. Ramush Haradinaj, a KLA commander was tried twice, and kept in prison for a total of 4 years, just to be declared innocent twice. He also went voluntarily to the Hague, just as Hashim Thaci and others who are being tried now, completely contrary to how the Serbs went to the Hague. And also, there still haven’t been concrete proof to indict Thaci, this just seems like a tradeoff that they’re making to make the

    Guilty until proven innocent…

  15. Funnily enough or tragically enough, these guys were also killing their own, who dared to speak out on KLA war crimes.

  16. Second Balkan Wars happening here in the comments. Basically just a fight over who had the better war criminals

  17. what a cherrypicked post from a butthurt serb, thaçi did not do anything that can amount to charges of serious war crimes and yet he’s been treated as such for the past 5 years on incredibly flimsy evidence made by the serbian government
