August the 10th, 2025 – The first 7 months of 2025 have been fantastic for Croatian tourism, with the latest data giving plenty of reason for satisfaction with the season thus far.
As Morski writes, in July 2025, 4.6 million tourists visited Croatia, equal to 2 percent less than in the same month last year. In addition, 1 percent fewer overnight stays (a total of 29.2 million) were recorded, the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) announced on Friday. The announcement comes from the latest data from the eVisitor and eCrew (nautical) systems.
Foreign guests made up the majority of the tourists, equalling almost 4.2 million arrivals, with a slight decrease of 2 percent. In addition, almost 26 million overnight stays were realised, which is 1 percent less than in July last year. Domestic tourists from across Croatia also recorded a slight decrease, also of 1 percent in terms of both arrivals and overnight stays. In total, 429,000 were registered, with almost 3.3 million overnight stays recorded.
86 percent of all overnight stays were recorded in commercial accommodations, while 12 percent were recorded in non-commercial facilities, as well as 2 percent in nautical accommodation. Among the commercial capacities, the most popular of all were household facilities with 12.3 million overnight stays recorded (a 2.3 percent drop). Campsites followed with 5.7 million overnight stays (a 1.1 percent drop), while hotels, with more than 4.8 million overnight stays recorded, were the only ones to record an increase, which reached 2.3 percent.
The most loyal guests for 2025 in Croatian tourism continue to come from Germany, followed by those from neighbouring Slovenia, with domestic tourists in third place in terms of overnight stays. The highest number of overnight stays was recorded in Istria, Split-Dalmatia County and Kvarner.
Although July was slightly weaker than July 2024, cumulatively, from January to July 2025, Croatian tourism recorded a 2 percent increase in both arrivals and overnight stays. During that period, 12.2 million tourists visited Croatia, who recorded 58.7 million overnight stays in total.
Foreign tourists made up the majority of the figures for the 2025 Croatian tourism picture so far. In total, there were 10.3 million arrivals (an increase of 1 percent) and 51.4 million overnight stays (also an increase of 1 percent) registered. There were 1.8 million domestic tourists, representative of an 8 percent increase compared to last year, and with almost 7.3 million overnight stays, they recorded growth of 6 percent.
According to the latest data from the Croatian National Tourist Board as of Friday, over one million tourists are currently in Croatia. The most numerous guests of all are from Germany and across Croatia, followed by Slovenians, Austrians, Poles, Czechs and the Dutch. Most of them are located in Istria, Split-Dalmatia and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties.
