I like it. Keep it up Canada !
A US Merlot? More like MerNo!!!
Turns out the Canadians didn’t appreciate the subtle hint of “annexation” and finishing tones of “economic coercion” in every bottle.
Womp womp. Sorry, I couldn’t find my tiny violin but I had my sad trombone handy.
How to kill US exports to our closest ally 101.
Was that a course at Wharton?
This is just rhe beginning
The world is finding out that Canada is always nice. Unless you’re a fucking dickhead to Canada. Then we are the meanest motherfuckers on the planet.
Wasn’t Europe destroying wine due to a surplus?
Canada will easily just use that.
Okanagan VQA wines are great, in Canada I always preferred those anyway.
Not planning to go to the US any time soon myself. Airlines have cut many Canada to US flights in recent months due to plummeting demand.
So turns out nobody in Canada appreciates having our country being threatened. We can vote with our spending habits and it is going to take a lot of changes and a long time before we go back to buying American.
Plus there’s plenty of wineries in the Niagara region to appreciate instead of those ones!
Not you, Wayne Gretzky.
(No seriously, Two Sisters sparkling rose is fantastic. And the pizza at the restaurant at the vineyard is just as great.)
We’ve been discovering some amazing Canadian wine from Ontario, Nova Scotia and PEI lately. We were previously huge California wine lovers. They don’t sell our favourite wines at the local liquor store anymore so we’ve moved on
Good!! Trump is a pedophile, rapist, felon and traitor to the constitution. Never do business in that trash country again.
3% to go.
Canada wants to fuck the States’ economy the way their elected leader and representative wants to fuck little kids.
An entirely self-induced flop. Canadians used to love American products and traveling.
Trump to fire this statistician too 🤷♂️
Anyone with a brain knows that America will not absorb the surplus production, especially at the prices the wine industry needs to survive.
Our gdp per capita statistics are very, very misleading. We have more than double the concentration of wealth into the hands of a few versus our northern neighbors. Most Americans go cheap. Whereas most Canadians could afford to gravitate to quality in at least some of their discretionary choices such as alcohol.
Furthermore some of the Canadians purchasers such as the famous LCBO of Ontario, one of the 3 largest purchasers of spirits in the world, had a long reputation of supporting wineries worldwide by purchasing in large volumes yet allowing for reasonable producer margins. And they were always willing to purchase from startups. The loss of the LCBO has to be gut wrenching to the American wine industry.
Kentucky is shedding spirits producers and jobs like an open fire hydrant spewing a river of water. The American wine industry is almost certainly not far behind them. The Grape Collective (a media platform that covers the industry) published an article in June describing the situation in the Finger Lakes, NY area as an “apocalypse” due to the loss of the Ontario & Quebec markets, and tourist traffic from those provinces into the Finger Lakes area – previously a very popular tourist destination especially for weekend packages from its 2 northern provincial neighbors.
We have 100’s of wineries in the Okanagan many of which produce great wines. We don’t need American wine. Elbows up!
Our greatest hockey player has the shittiest wine to match his personality.
I stand with Canada 🇨🇦
I wish we had the fortitude and the pride of country that our brothers and sisters to the north have.
Elbows up Canada!
As a California resident, living at the source of so much great wine, I am a little bit saddened.
But keep it up, Canada.
Defeating Trumpism is the top priority. Fully a third of my “fellow” American voters wanted this fiasco. Let my country experience the consequences of its stupidity.
I used to buy almost 50% Californian wines and 50% Canadian. I’ve switched to 100% Canadian.
I can still be a drunkard, but now I feel pride while being a drunkard.
SAQ and LCBO are state owned and stopped buying US. Huge effect right there
All thanks to the worst human alive
But whine exports have quadrupled, a six times increase if you count Kevin O’Leary and JD Vance
U.S. whine exports are up 100%
Good. Lol, im very happy to have got to experience different Canadian alcohols this summer. I found a great pre made whiskey sour cocktail, and now I have 20 of them in the gazebo fridge.
I completely understand why. But I really wanted to call out the tenacity of the Canadian people. To unite in this fashion is remarkable.
Plenty of good wine available imported from other countries. Alcohol, for most, is a discretionary purchase or luxury good. In Canada we have many good choices produced locally as well as a world of good quality wine from friendly and allied countries: France, Italy, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Chilli, Argentina, etc. High quality and good value with many choices. Why choose American wine at all? Its not the best quality or cheapest price. Sure there are good wines from California and Oregon, but they are just not “needed”. So the only way for the Americans to maintain sales in Canada is to lower the price. Have they tried that?
Used to buy Kentucky Bourbon. But not for sale in my province anymore, and no longer interested anyway. I buy whiskey from Canada, Scotland, Ireland, Japan… Your POTUS is engaging in economic warfare with my country, and threatens annexation. I want to have as little to do with America as possible.
I was that the Keg a few weeks ago and people are still making sure the wine they order is not from the US. lol it makes me proud.
Good, I don’t even miss it. Once it’s available to purchase again, I still won’t buy it.
Kentucky bourbon industry is also drying up due to lack of international sales. Turns out the rest of the civilized world doesn’t like what Americans have done
As a Canadian, USA can get fucked.
>”There is a chance this drop is a temporary boycott, and exports of American goods to Canada could rebound.”
Let me rephrase that. **NO there is not a chance there will be a rebound.**
❤️ to Canada !
HahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAhahahaha…heh…heheh…
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahahahahHAHAHAHAhahahaha…[sigh]…whew…[sigh]…I needed that, thanks.
I’m glad they note it’s about the annexation talk. A lot of US media act like it’s some tit for tat tariff thing. Na man our oldest ally has made some heinous threats.
Thank you Canada and to all who are helping us resist orange fascism.
Smaller market than wine, but according to the U.S. Census Bureau, whiskey exports to Canada have fallen 72%
Good. Nothing good comes from dealing with pedophiles.
Something, something, epstein files.
I was in BC last week; at a liquor store the person working said the provincial stores won’t stock any US products to a customer asking for bourbon.
I literally picked up a wine bottle yesterday at the store, really liked the flavour profile/percentage/ingredients, saw it was American, put it back and grabbed an Australian one.
I wish we Indians also start boycotting US products at mass scale. At least the ones we can . ..some we can’t eg whatsapp etc till Indian companies come up with alternatives. As an individual I am determined to not buy any US product as much as possible
I hear it will drop 800, 900, or even 1,500%
