Time to get “democracy” to Pakistan, I suppose.
My aspirations when studying IR theory is to one day be able to explain USA’s Stockholm Syndrome with regards to Pakistan. In the 21st century, more US soldiers have died due to Pakistani shenanigans than any other declared enemies of USA, and yet US finds itself going back to Pakistan like a battered wife still in love with her abusive husband. What sweet nothings do the Pakistani generals whisper in the ears of the Americans?
Of course, Pakistani strategy is obvious. Convince Americans to come to Pakistan, stage or facilitate a terrorist attack by BLA or TTP on the Americans, blame either Afghanistan or India for it (why not both!), and pull the Americans back into the same quagmire that they spent 20 years in. Next step: shipping containers filled with dollars docking at Karachi.
What makes the Americans so strategically illiterate that they keep falling for it?
Is anyone know about how much of this oil discovery is true, even if it’s true, is it a feasible project?
Instead of addressing Pakistan’s complex relationship with militant groups aka terrorists – which the US has long navigated carefully to balance against China and India, now they’re now actively courting them with dem dubious oil deals. Classic Trump – big announcements about “massive reserves” that probably don’t exist, then he’ll move on to the next shiny object or rhetoric.
Makes me wonder what would’ve happened if India had given the ‘credit’ to Trump for may ceasfires too. Egonomics with this guy.
I can understand if Trump can’t find Pakistan on a map, much less know about its oil. But surely he has competent advisors ? Unless DOGE has sacked them all and he plans to run foreign policy by tweets.
There is no US Ambassador to India and he does not seem inclined to appoint one.
