It’s sad that with time, some people stop being happy with each other. Yet, it’s a very good thing that whenever that happens, society makes it easy to break the relationship.
This is not necessarily a bad statistic. It’s normal to make mistakes and want to correct them; they can even not be mistakes, as people can be happy for a time, and then end the relationship when that stops being the case.

A lot of these couples were somehow forced too early, women and men, being in the same relationship since they were 15-18 and scared to leave for multiple reasons: fear of being alone, kids, gossip… For a while back divorce has finally become more open and accepted.
This type of culture is still endorsed, talking about myself too, I’ve been with the same woman since I was 18 (34 now), it is hard to make it work.

The data may be old as people are getting married later and staying together for longer and at higher rates, it’s gone up to about 60% in the US and I’d imagine most western countries are at about the same rate now
So the countreis with the lowest rates are Kosovo, Bosnia and… Ireland???
In Italy a lot of people don’t legally divorce but break up and move on with their lives with other people, their numbers would be higher if it reflected this. It’s not uncommon to see people legally married but in reality divorced

Happens everywhere these days. People still get married way too soon. Today people are in college until 22 or later, don’t really start their full-time 40+ hour a week jobs until like 25+ sometimes. Then they have to learn about themselves etc. In today’s day and age people shouldn’t even be thinking about marriage until 30 or later IMHO.

By my own experience and after 30 years of marriage the only reason my marriage did not work is for money, if money.
I have spent all my life working 10/12 hours to pay 1001 useless expenses and when I have needed my wife to contribute more money to house expenses it is when the problems have begun, in other words her money is hers and the money of others is also hers
Why feminism does not talk about women’s problem with money and storage. They always need more and more and more
This is misleading. The average life of a divorced marriage is 17 years old, which is quite long. In USA, where they have also 50% divorce rate, the average is around 8 years.
So what’s happening? Many disfunctional marriages that didn’t divorce decades ago, because it was socially taboo, they are divorcing now in their 50s, 60s and 70s. They should have divorced many years ago.
So it’s inflating the divorce rate right now, because you are adding to the current generation of divorces stats, are including the accumulated divorces from previous generations. The actual survivorship of a couple marrying today is probably more similar to other countries (60-65%)
It’s much easier, faster and cheaper to divorce in Spain than in other countries and it’s also much less risky financially to get married. It would be interesting to see if people in Spain gets married more than in those other countries.
