Princess Kate and her family are likely to spend part of the summer holidays at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, but Kate’s surprisingly normal choice of travel might shock you. The Princess of Wales was previously spotted traveling on an economy class flight with her children to Balmoral in 2022.
According to a fellow passenger on the plane, Kate was surprisingly down-to-earth. They shared on TikTok: “On a flight to Scotland, Kate, both kids, nanny and security 2 rows in front of me. Could get a private jet or helicopter but keeping it simple, flying economy.”
They added: “She even got up halfway through the flight to get her daughter’s iPad. And yes she was stunning, even gave me a smile while looking back at the row behind her to talk to her son. No one on board took any photos or videos. Just a mum taking her children on holiday to see grandmother, but there was a buzz on board.”
On Hello! Magazine’s ‘A Right Royal Podcast’, Sky News royal correspondent, Rhiannon Mills, shared her opinions on what the annual retreat means for both Prince William and Princess Kate: “We’ve seen that outpouring of love for Scotland fromPrince William in recent years. It’s the place where he spent all these idyllic family holidays. It’s also where he was when he tragically learned of his mother’s death and where he met Kate. So, it’s a place that’s incredibly central to his life.”
On the family’s annual visit, Rhiannon noted: “As far as we know, they will still spend that week up there.”
She went on to compare Balmoral to another royal favourite: “It’s a bit like going to Norfolk, you can completely understand why the royals love it. You really feel like you’re a world away from London, from all the constitutional responsibilities, from all that sort of stuff.”
Back in May, a few months after sharing that she was in remission after her cancer diagnosis last year, Kate launched a new video series, where she revealed how she embraced “the healing power of nature” during her treatment.
She urged society to “reconnect to nature and celebrate a new dawn within our hearts” in the first of a series of films celebrating the seasons.
The royal spoke openly of the role the natural world played during her cancer journey last year, with Kate understood to have walked and swam outdoors during her six months of chemotherapy.
Set in 50,000 acres covering areas of moorland and heath, towering hills, and rare, protected woodland habitats, the Balmoral Estate is set in a picturesque setting.
