  1. we need to study the international market for superhero to understand why they rejected the movies this year but last year the opposite

  2. Superman was okay. I’m not really a fan of the dopey take on Superman, but the 4 kids I took to see it all really liked it, so it’s probably a great fit for its intended audience.

Comparing the opening earnings of a broadly family-friendly Superman reboot to the lifetime earnings of an edgy-as-fuck sequel to an edgy-as-fuck genre satire is certainly a choice, but I don’t know that it really conveys anything of value.

  3. Ticket prices were cheaper in 2018 than they are today. I don’t know why they go by gross $ instead of tickets.

  4. Still got awhile before it catches deadpool & wolverine

  5. Not hard to do, Deadpool 2 is a pile of dogshit.

  6. Deadpool 2? How about this.

    Superman 570

    Man of steel 670.

Maybe a slightly better comparison? This whole “let’s not talk about the international box office” thing is so biased, it’s money. Bottom line.

  7. I get that lots of people liked the new Superman movie, and that’s great. It just didn’t do it for me at all. But if it means Superman movies are considered in the future then I’m all for it

  8. Unless Superman was also rated R, does this accomplishment even mean anything?

  9. i think is very simple. China used their best international bet, play by their rules and the movies were making a killing. Until they have now realized they can make their own movies and bring that much internally. Its over for hollywood in China

  10. I’m surprised at how many people are raving about the new superman movie. I thought the fights and stuff were awesome but the writing did not do it for me. Too much tiktok humor. Some jokes did make me laugh but there were more that made me cringe. I could see the complain about the previous ones being too stoic but this was too much in the other direction.

Also the idea that lex could beat him just by giving commands out like A6! C2! G9! Was very unbelievable especially at their speed.

In the end I’m glad it’s successful and I’m here for a sequel I just hope Gunn stops trying to give superman the personality of Star Lord.

  11. Half the comment section is like

“I like the the movie and it was good and all that…..but here is why it sucked balls”

  12. How did it do compared to Deadpool and Wolverine?

  13. It overcame the older _Deadpool 2_, not the new _Deadpool & Wolverine_.

  14. Click bait as these numbers aren’t adjusted for inflation

  15. Superman wasn’t even made in America, it’s based off toronto iirc

  16. Superman (2025) is a superhero film.

Deadpool & Wolverine (2024) is a dark comedy buddy film.

    Nuff said

  17. Comparing a PG-13 movie to a R-rated movie is something lol.

  18. I think James Gunn is paying the media to release news articles on his shitty movie to brainwash us into thinking we didn’t watch a pile of absolute shit

  19. This is just pointless clickbait trash.

They’re comparing two completely unrelated type of movies, in which one is rated R and the other is PG-13 (one having more limited audience) and it’s comparing 2018 financial numbers to 2025 without adjusting for inflation (Superman would need to hit roughly $417 million domestically to beat it if you account for general inflation).

  20. WTF? That read like an kindergarten AI review. Why the comparison?
