Israeli forces have advanced into several towns and villages in Syria’s strategic southwestern province of Quneitra, where they established checkpoints and searched residents prior to withdrawing after a few hours.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported that 10 Israeli military vehicles departed from the Tel Ahmar base and proceeded towards the Bariqa–Kudna road, where soldiers established a checkpoint.
Reports said that yet another convoy of 10 vehicles has raided the village of Ruwayhina and advanced toward Rasm al-Halabi in central Quneitra.
As reported by SANA, five Israeli military vehicles made their way into the southern town of al-Rafid from al-Hiran through the Al-Asha crossing early on Saturday morning, continuing towards the al-Jala crossing.
The outlet reported that an Israeli patrol, accompanied by two tanks, moved from al-Adnaniyah towards Ruwayhina, with the tanks establishing positions on the periphery of the village.
The forces subsequently withdrew from every region they had occupied in both central and southern Quneitra.
Since the collapse of Assad’s government, the Israeli military has been launching airstrikes against military installations, facilities, and arsenals belonging to Syria’s now-defunct army.
Israel has been widely condemned for the termination of the 1974 ceasefire agreement with Syria and for exploiting the chaos in the Arab nation in the wake of Assad’s downfall to make a land grab.
The United Nations has condemned ongoing Israeli attacks inside Syrian territory and repeated violations in and around the buffer zone created as part of a 1974 ceasefire agreement with Damascus.
