One person is dead following a two-vehicle crash that has forced the closure of Highway 401 in the city’s west end.

Provincial police say the crash occurred in the eastbound lanes of the highway approaching Dixon Road just before 4 a.m. Sunday.

A 29-year-old driver in one of the vehicles was ejected from his car and pronounced dead on the way to the hospital, while the 29-year-old driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

OPP say the express lanes of Highway 401 at Eglinton Avenue remain fully closed, and there is no access to the eastbound portion of the highway from the northbound lanes of Highway 427 as they continue to investigate.
