The Moldovan Ministry of Defense said that a fake video appeared on social media, allegedly linked to this year’s international exercises “Fire Shield.” The defense ministry emphasizes that the material has nothing to do with real training.

The clip circulating online allegedly shows footage from the exercises. However, the ministry says the video was created using artificial intelligence and also includes edits and clips from archives of other joint exercises.

“These video materials have nothing to do with this year’s exercises. Aircraft, parachute jumps, the terrain of the ranges, and other elements in the video do not reflect the reality of the exercises.”

The ministry urged citizens not to fall for disinformation and to verify information only from official sources.

According to the defense ministry, such video materials aim to sow fear, undermine trust in state institutions, and destabilize society.

From August 4 to 18, Moldova is conducting the “Fire Shield” exercises involving Moldovan, Romanian, and American service members. They take place at the National Army training centers, so you may see military equipment on the country’s roads – mostly at night.

How to verify information about military exercises

Authorities emphasize a responsible approach to disseminating information: verify facts, consult official statements and sources, especially when it concerns materials involving disinformation or artificial intelligence, which may have external motives.
