2. I would take companies reasons for layoffs with a pound of salt

   They don’t want to admit a project failed so AI is new code word for “reorganization” cause it sounds forward growth oriented to investors 

3. And yet, all I ever hear is “AI can’t do MY job”

   LOL, AI will be able to do everybody’s job. It’s just a matter of time. And FWIW, “time” will be measured in years, not decades.
