Buying your annual railcard the day before you turn 31

  1. I’m not ready to face the reality of full price train fares.

  2. I forgot my railcard expired and when I got checked the ticket guard – sorry Revenue Protection Officer – looked at me as if I committed a heinous crime. £100 fine plus full price fare.

Wouldn’t even engage in conversation. Twat.

  3. I fucked up with my recent booking of a holiday in a couple of weeks’ time, my rail card expires the day before I travel back. Now I’m gonna have to renew it earlier than intended – I was hoping I could wait til December before renewing (because this will be my last 26-30 rail card).

  4. isn’t it non valid if you aren’t within the age range regardless of when you buy it?

  5. There’s no way of them knowing, so it really doesn’t matter. I don’t know a single 31 yr old without it

  6. My friend went to renew her YPR in Leeds station and the woman behind the counter said she couldn’t as she wasn’t a young person any more.  I’ll remember that smug smile as long as I live 🤣

  7. I forgot and I’m kicking myself for some journeys later in the year.

  8. Steve Buscemi is everywhere at the moment…Happy Gilmore 2, Wednesday and now Casual UK…

  9. I’m eligible for a different Railcard. Having been away from the UK for a bit, it had expired.

Holy hell I’d forgotten just how expensive train tickets are without one!

  10. I’ll be doing that in September.

My line is nationalising in July 2026. I know it’s unlikely to bring the fares down immediately, but I can hope lol.
