  1.  If [Friday’s summit ](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/four-danger-points-lie-ahead-ukraine-peace-talks-3851729?ico=in-line_link)between Russian President [Vladimir Putin](https://inews.co.uk/topic/vladimir-putin?ico=in-line_link) and US President [Donald Trump](https://inews.co.uk/topic/donald-trump?srsltid=AfmBOoo9SgREbJTHyaZ_BPN9bi1f5uFezE-phFp43wfwB2W7VRDhvhLq&ico=in-line_link) really goes ahead, do not be surprised if – upon arrival in Alaska – the Kremlin leader looks like the cat that stole the cream.

For Putin, setting foot on American soil for the first time in a decade will be a stunning achievement, especially given the fact that the Trump administration appears to be imposing absolutely no preconditions for the meeting.

The [Kremlin continues to run circles around the White House](https://inews.co.uk/news/world/only-someone-gullible-trump-fall-putins-latest-ruse-3848116?ico=in-line_link) by insisting that Putin’s main interest at the summit is improving bilateral relations: those with the United States rather than [Ukraine](https://inews.co.uk/topic/ukraine?ico=in-line_link).

  2. Well that’s kind of why Putin helped Trump get elected.

  3. Getting to negotiate with your puppet makes things a lot easier.

  4. Chump thinks everything is a reality tv show. He is the most unserious fake president ever.

  5. I fully expect that stunt to lead to an unreasonable peace settlement amounting to a surrender for Ukraine to be “negociated”. Zelensky will of course refuse and as a result the Trump admin will call him unreasonable and retract support for Ukraine which will have been to true objective of that meeting all along. The whole thing is a sham.

  6. Of course he is. Trump’s a blithering idiot, after all.

  7. Let’s set aside the krasnov angle and give the benefit of doubt to Trump. If Trump really thinks that he can play Putin then Ukraine is a goner.

  8. My prediction is that we will see some sort of cease fire in Ukraine, most likely favourable to Russia. One of the conditions is that Ukraine won’t be able to join NATO, and Russia will re-arm.

Russia will be sabotaging Ukraine the entire time, provoke them and could even see Russia take some inconsequential pieces of land from Ukraine and dare them to risk all out war over some random farm or forest. Make no mistake, Ukraine will be at a disadvantage in any cease fire with Russia and will continue to loose.

  9. Trump is way out of his league on this one. Russia may not be what it used to be, but Putin is a strategist thru and thru. Trump probably can’t tell you where Ukraine is on the map.

Trump is looking for a brute force solution to the truce on this one so he can make a case for being a peacemaker. Peace at all cost so long as its not the US paying it. Unfortunately for him, it doesn’t seem Zelensky buys into that strategy. He did the good cop bad cop with Zelenksy in the white house which didn’t end in the result he wanted.

There simply isn’t a lever US has to force Russia to take any deal less than absolutely favorable to them.
