Weapons follows a small community grappling with the unexplained disappearance of 17 schoolchildren, told through six shifting perspectives that gradually reveal unsettling truths. The film marks a bold step for Barbarian director Zach Cregger, who personally introduced the film at Prague’s Edison Filmhub ahead of an anticipated local shoot of Resident Evil.

Starring Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, and Benedict Wong, Weapons has drawn rave reviews. The Prague Reporter calls it a “rare mainstream film that doesn’t just tell a story—it challenges how stories are told.”

Blending understated humor with the lingering weight of psychological trauma, Sorry, Baby marks a striking debut for writer-director-star Eva Victor. The filmmaker plays Agnes, a young professor navigating the aftermath of a sexual assault over several years, told through vignettes that balance wit and poignancy.

Co-starring Naomi Ackie, Kelly McCormack, Lucas Hedges, and John Carroll Lynch, the film premiered earlier this year at Sundance and is now playing in local cinemas. The Prague Reporter calls it “a quietly moving debut that finds humor in heartbreak and poignancy in the everyday.”

Season 2 of Wednesday brings back Jenna Ortega as the sharp-witted, black-pigtailed Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Emmy-winning gothic mystery. Nearly three years after its debut, the Tim Burton-produced show returns with more macabre humor, twisted puzzles, and supernatural intrigue.

Set at the eerie Nevermore Academy, the series follows Wednesday as she unravels a sinister new case, joined by returning stars Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Fred Armisen. New faces include Lady Gaga, Haley Joel Osment, and Joanna Lumley. The eight-episode season is split into two parts: the first four episodes are now streaming on Netflix, with the next four arriving Sept. 3.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood explores two parallel love stories set decades apart in the Outlander universe. In 18th-century Scotland, Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy) meets Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater), sparking a romance that will shape the Fraser family’s future. In WWI-era England, Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine) and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) navigate love amid wartime upheaval.

Based on Diana Gabaldon’s characters, the 10-episode prequel has earned critical praise for its lush visuals and rich storytelling. The first two episodes are now streaming on HBO Max in Czechia, with new episodes dropping on Fridays.
