Modernising EU budget revenues: bridging Public and Private Finance
This panel will explore strategies to modernise the financing of the EU budget, with new own resources and by engaging the private sector and aligning it more closely with Member States’ national budgets. Recognising that the EU budget alone cannot meet all investment needs—such as infrastructure development, digital transition, and climate action—discussions will focus on how the budget can de-risk private investments in these priority areas. Panellists will examine opportunities to enhance the EU’s own resources and reinforce its status as a global issuer. The session aims to identify how strategic partnerships and innovative funding mechanisms can maximise impactful investments, supporting the EU’s broader financial goals of sustainability, innovation, social fairness, and economic resilience.
