Comes from a broken home not knowing her father, is bullied in school, picks up an alcohol problem at 14, is arrested for criminal damage at 15, for assault on a police officer at 16 and kicked out of her home. The first guy, she lives with at 16 cuts himself, and she picks up the habit. The next guy she met at 18 was a schizophrenic. She tries to stab him in a drunken brawl, he doesn’t contact the police and instead leaves. She ends up with a baby and she doesn’t know who the father is and then on the night she stabbed and killed Gilchrist she’d already assaulted a lady at that same pub.
Somewhere along that timeline someone should have been like *’hmmm you think maybe she is a bit damaged?’*
Man stronk, can defend himself. If he can’t, he is no man. /s
I can’t believe she only got 12 years minimum for stabbing someone to death. Can someone this unhinged ever truly be trusted in society? This country is far to leniant on killers imo.
Society as a whole still has some really fucked up beliefs on how domestic abuse works. The idea that anyone can be an abuser or can be abused doesn’t even cross many people’s minds. And abuse can take so many forms beyond the narrow portrayal seen in media.
I’m not sure how we even begin to address it tbh.
No shit, after being assaulted by an ex, I was warned by some family in police not to report it. As it would go worse for me if she decided to accuse me of anything.
Male DV is basically ignored and its always turned around on them unless they have solid video evidence
Domestic abuse support in this country for men is absolutely dire.
There are 3 times as many homeless men than women – yet only 25% of homeless shelters and refuges accept men
Men get bigger sentences for the same crimes
Men can get assaulted physically and mentally by their partners in the streets and people literally smile and laugh
Men also commit suicide 3x as often
People don’t care about the stats they just hold on to their emotionally charged archaic views it’s fucking depressing
You should also see the lax nature of female prisons vs mens….
The number of relationships I’ve seen where the woman is perfectly okay with giving her partner a smack when they make a joke or do something they don’t like is honestly disturbing.
Yes, and sometimes it’s a Very heavy thumb. As well as the traditional frying pan and rolling pin weapons, women have a whole arsenal of psychological ways of attacking their spouse.
Abuse is not always about physical strength.
I’ve been through this too. When I went to report physical abuse to the police (on the advice of my case worker), the officer basically implied I ought to “man up” and the whole thing went no further, despite having evidence of all kinds. Do not expect to be helped, believed or even listened to if you are a male victim of domestic violence.
If anybody else is currently going through this and wants support, PM me.

Just look at the initial reaction to Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
Society needs to be better at identifying abuse victims, but also keeping an eye on those with a rocky life who might abuse. [A short history of Mawhood’s life:](https://www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/7871751.the-sad-life-of-a-mother-who-turned-to-murder/)

I wonder if things have improved, or got worse since [this Independent article](https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/male-domestic-violence-victims-refuges-mankind-initiative-a8540346.html%3famp) saying that although men make up 40% of the victims of domestic abuse, only 0.8% of the refuge beds are reserved for them.

Yep, pretty much.
Male abuse victims are ignored or mocked all the time.
Sad truth is, if you’re male and abused, don’t expect anyone to believe or help you.
As proven by the recent court case involving JD and AH.
Another fantastic slogan. Under the thumb. What dies that even mean
