Netanyahu signals possible Gaza war expansion amid ongoing bombing • FRANCE 24 English
Now, dozens of protesters dispersed in often violent protests in Israel as the country waits to hear the conclusions from its security cabinet on how the war in Gaza will now unfold. Many saying Israel can go no further with its campaign and Hamas has been defeated and Israel should simply withdraw. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu though is hinted at still wider military action. Yesterday’s meeting of the security cabinet breaking up amid reports of splits dividing its members. So we’re going to cross then to Jerusalem, talk to our correspondent Ngatanapolski who joins us from there. Noga, first off, I mean there’s much confusion over where this war is going to go now, isn’t there? There’s much confusion, much anxiety, much concern, and increasing fears in Israel um because of the prime minister’s hints and anonymous briefings and because of leaked um screaming outbursts of his at the uh defense at the head of the army at the chief of staff of the Israel Defense Forces. Our understanding is that he has pivoted. If a few months ago he was saying openly in English language interviews, we have no interest. Israel is not going to be taking over Gaza right now. What he is letting everyone know through these kind of murky uh messages is that he is about to order the army to take over all of Gaza and to fully occupy it for Israel to become the occupying administrator of the entire Gaza Strip. No. Meanwhile, in Gaza itself, uh the killing is going on as well, isn’t it? Another 20 people killed when an aid truck overturned at least. That’s right. Another catastrophe uh happening as aid is supposed to be distributed. I don’t yet have details about how this happened, what could have happened. the UN um now apparently trying to appeal to the Netanyahu government with whom the UN and Israel almost have broken ties between themselves. But the UN issued a statement after this truck overturned killing at least 20 people saying that the situation is so bad, quote, it could endanger hostages. I think the UN may have thought this message would somehow touch the Israeli government or maybe the Israeli people, but the Israeli government has proven itself completely immune to those sorts of appeals. Whether they have something to do with the growing death count in Gaza or whether they have to do with the possibility of endangering the life of hostages which is coming from all sides in Israel itself. No, thanks very much. Gotaposki a correspondent talking to us there from Jerusalem.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hinted at wider military action in devastated Gaza on Tuesday, even as former Israeli army and intelligence chiefs called for an end to the nearly 22-month war. The war continues to divide Israel, with numerous protests across the country calling for a ceasefire and the release of hostages. FRANCE 24’s Noga Tarnopolsky has more from Jerusalem.

The prime minister is correct!!
Stop calling it a war. it is no a war.
“War”.. starving people and bombing children & women..
HAMAS is still their in Gaza what do people think they'll do if Israel suddenly chose to withdraw?
The Palestinians people deserve much better but without HAMAS.
Satanyahoo.
Disgusting
A July 7th, 2024, article in the Israeli newspaper Haaretz revealed the "Hannibal Directive" was used on Oct. 7th, 2023. The story has since been confirmed by former Defense Minister Gallant. Who gave the order and how many citizens lost their lives at the hands of the IDF that day?
Israel 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Maybe Netanyahu could move in to the white house..?
When a country descends into the abyss of irrationality
(as Germany did in 1939) its impossible to save it from itself
You created the problem and now you are stuck with it.
Survey: More than half of Israelis are not at all concerned about the hunger in Gaza.
This was always about land
It's not a war. It was all about taking the land. They already have real estates trying to sell lands to the Jewish population
Europe is next. Imagine live from Stuttgart, Israel…..
my goodness….i dont understand. the people are already suffering so much.
Israel will do what it has to do, deal with the conquest of Russia. You don't talk enough about the conquest of Europe by Islam. Why?
The UN must block effort by Israel to control Palestine's fate. Let Palestine decide its future course.
