> “With all due respect… how old are they?” Maluma asked the mother in a video of the interaction shared online. “A year old? Less? A year. Do you think it’s a good idea to bring a one-year-old baby to a concert where the decibels are this fucking high? Where is the sound this loud? That baby doesn’t even know what it’s doing here. Next time, protect their ears or something. For real. It’s heavy. It’s your responsibility. You’re waving them around like they’re a toy. That baby doesn’t want to be there, for real. I’m telling you with all love and respect, now that I’m a father… would never bring them to a concert. For the next time, be a bit more aware.”
The mom is crazy, good on him for speaking out about it !
I have seen more kids at shows over the past couple of years. They always have giant noise blocking headphones or ear plugs though. Kid is gonna be deaf.
Did he make her leave?
Honestly good on him. When I took my then 4 year old ( now 8) to her first concert strong headphones were a 100% must. I was even paranoid when I’d go to concerts pregnant… it’s not good for anyone ears let alone little people who are relying on you to protect them. Super not okay and not good concert parenting 😣
*I* wear noise canceling headphones at a concert and i’m 27.

Unless it’s a They Might Be Giants concert why would you bring a fucking BABY??
I remember years and years ago (Jesus, I just looked it up, Frances is in her 30s now!) seeing Courtney Love with her baby at a concert, and the kid was wearing shooter-style earmuffs. If someone that raucous could have her shit together enough to give her baby ear protection, so can you.
I saw so many kids with no ear protection at Eras and I was horrified. When I took my earplugs out it was painfully loud.
Im a roadie and i stiff my pockets with foam ear plugs and hand them out whenever insee kids with no protection. Happens all the time , in the front, by the subs. Ridiculous
I really love to hear that. There have been many music festivals/concerts that I’ve been to where parents bring their kinds without ear protection
How did the venue allow this…
When I was in college it was a novelty to see kids with ear protection at shows. Now, 20 years later, I’d be horrified not to see it.
Who worked the doors is the problem
I agree, but a sound level that will hurt a child’s ears will also hurt an adults. Why not just turn the effing volume down?
He’s completely right.
Kid’s first word is “MAWP.”
I literally shouted at someone from stage at my show yesterday. he asked for a guitar pick when the noise died down from the encore and i had been getting distracted and irate about his kid being held sitting on the barricade with no hearing protection. this has started a little discussion in my camp whether or not we should say anything about it- those kids aren’t deciding to come to shows, their parents bring them. they shouldn’t be getting their ears traumatized.
Yes. Bring back public shaming of morons.
Why would they even allow children that young in? I’d think there would be a cut off… like 5 and under or something
I once attended a concert where this couple took their newborn. I couldn’t hear the baby crying b/c it was so loud, but I could see the baby wringing in pain for most of the concert. Every now and then I still have flashbacks and see that baby wringing in pain in my mind.
I don’t know his music that well but he seems like a good guy for speaking up
